Embracing New Growth

Pregnancy isn’t what I imagined it to be… it can be really hard, not because I’ve had a difficult pregnancy but because you mentally and physically go through so many changes that in reality nobody really can prepare you for. Before I got pregnant I thought pregnancy was: morning sickness, bigger breasts, baby bump and what Hollywood told me delivery was expected to be like. The whole experience was completely foreign to me and not what I ever thought it would be like, except maybe the morning sickness. Coming from the modelling industry and being able to always have control over my body and what I wanted it to be like, was over the moment I became pregnant. And I don’t mean that in a sense where you can eat endless amounts of food, I mean you have to let go of your control and embrace the temporary home you’re providing for your growing baby inside of you.

It took me sometime to really feel comfortable in my new body. Every Time I’ve embraced a photo shoot during my pregnancy it’s meant a lot to me because it’s super empowering to see how beautiful the pregnant you can be! As the months go on I feel more and more confident, it’s been the most challenging and most beautiful experience thus far. I applaud all moms out there!

  1. This is such a sweet post. I’m five and a half months at the moment, barely showing, but each day I feel a little bigger and I actually love it. I think I’ve had the easiest pregnancy so far (and I know how lucky that makes me) but even still all the little things are an adjustment. I’m still having to remind myself of all the lifting and stretching etc. that I shouldn’t be doing! I’m glad I stumbled across your blog, it’s nice to find a community of women going through the same thing 🙂
