Lately we had the chance to talk with Laura Wills, creator of The Fashion Bug Blog. If you didn’t know her, she has a great blog where she posts about her travels, her outfits and her lifestyle. As she explained to us, she is “trying to encourage more moms-to-be to have fun with their pregnancy style and to not be limited to only wearing maternity clothing.” That is why we may have a huge crush on this gorgeous mom-to-be. Her amazing sense of style makes her a true Bumpshell!
How do you manage to have such a killing style with your baby bump?
That’s very sweet of you to say – thank you. It definitely requires more planning but there isn’t a specific formula – I think I just decided from day one that I wasn’t going to let pregnancy dictate my style. Rather I would work with my bump and put together looks from brands that I was used to wearing and loved pre-pregnancy. Fashion is such a big part of my life that I didn’t want to go through 9 months of wearing just maternity brands (although there are some amazing ones out there like Hatch) and not feeling like myself. I think the key is working out what styles are most flattering on your changing body and then finding pieces that are comfortable but still stylish.
If you had to live the rest of your pregnancy with only one outfit, what would it be?
Totally impractical but my Self-Portrait pleated gown I wore recently on holiday in Mallorca. The moment I stepped into it I felt amazing.
What designer or brand do you find fits more your baby bump ?
I don’t stick to a specific designer but I do LOVE the Tibi off-shoulder top – I own it in 3 colours!
What’s your biggest challenge on a daily basis during your pregnancy?
My changing body. On the one hand it is one of the most exciting things about pregnancy – in the beginning I couldn’t wait for my bump to start showing. But my body changes and grows almost every day and so I am constantly having to rethink what looks good with my bump.
Is there one thing you can’t wait to do as soon as you deliver?
Meet my baby girl! Also I cannot wait to exercise properly – I will have to wait around 6 weeks for my body to recover but I love exercise and although I have continued to train throughout my pregnancy, I miss being able to really give it my all. And I cannot wait to wear normal jeans again! (Sorry really bad at sticking to one!)
Cravings?
Fruit – I have to have lots of mango, papaya and pineapple every day. And I definitely have more of a sweet tooth than I ever did before.
