I couldn’t be more excited to present my interview with this bumpshell: Kelsey Crane!! You may know her from Chasing Life or Casa Vita, or may follow her on instagram to watch her cute bump grow! But not only is she an actress, she is also a #Bossgirl owning @quenchlife & Girl Behavior, and now a new mom-to-be!
As a TV personality what’s your biggest challenge now that you are pregnant?
I think there is immense pressure on the modern woman to do it all AND look good while doing it. Our bodies are celebrated for how quickly they “bounce” back rather than for achieving and enduring what can certainly be referred to as nothing less than a physical miracle. Our ability to effortlessly juggle motherhood, work, and social lives is simply expected. The first time I heard my little one’s heart beat, I knew I was embarking on the biggest creative adventure of my life. Fully and patiently embracing both the emotional and physical changes proves to my challenge of pregnancy. Magically, accepting this evolution allows me to pursue my career with a new found freedom and creative abandon.
How does your bump inspire you to make your style evolve? Do you have a favorite designer or brand during your pregnancy? And how would you define your style during your pregnancy?
I’ve definitely focused on my internal changes, working inside out but that being said, rocking a cute outfit on your new bod absolutely contributes to self confidence. I love to hug my bump and my booty got pregnant too so I am definitely embracing the curves with tighter, stretcher clothing. For the most part, I wear non-maternity clothing just 1 -2 sizes larger. I love Forever 21 as a trendy budget sensitive option as well as have purchased some special pieces (a New Year’s Dress and Beyonce’s Ivy Park rib knit joggers) from Top Shop. For maternity clothing, I LOVE my dark denim skinny jeans and black cross over maternity top from Isabella Oliver and my distressed maternity jeans from Pink Blush – Pink Blush also makes a mint floral delivery/nursing robe that I can wait to meet my mini person in!
Have you changed your lifestyle or some habits (fitness, healthier choices, etc.) during your pregnancy? What’s your biggest challenge on a daily basis?
I have always loved to work out – It is an amazing stress release and endorphin enhancer. My workout plan has remained consistent throughout my pregnancy until recently with the help of my amazing trainer @bodybyjennla I have begun to modify. The increased blood flow to my baby makes my body feel amazing and knowing that I am doing all I can to stay strong for the birth process gives me that extra boost of confidence. I have also gone semi gluten free and am definitely watching my sugar intake – I allow myself cheat days and firmly subscribe to the “everything in moderation” theory. Green based protein shakes have been an amazing morning or mid-afternoon energy booster! The biggest challenge has been accepting the limitations of my ever-evolving body and fully embracing them. Thank goodness for these two amazing women’s power of influence: certified holistic nutritionist @bewellbykelly makes AMAZING healthy smoothies that I love and new mom Katie Willcox leads by example with her @healthyisthenewskinny health and wellness movement.
For our Confessions of a Preggo segment: What part of your pregnancy do you find most difficult?
Being patient! I am just overwhelmed with excitement to love on our baby who I’ve been dreaming of not just through the pregnancy but throughout my life. Getting to love and nourish their personality will be the joy of my life. Also saying no to pancakes for every meal. They’ve never been more delicious!
What cravings have you had?
I LOVE KimChee from Cafe Gratitude! My husband (actor Nicholas Gonzalez) brought me pink roses and KimCheefor our 5 month celebration. *Swoon* For the most part, my pregnancy craving has been simple: just FOOD. All of it. Period. For the most part, I’ve tried to eat balanced, responsible and conscientious meals. Green protein based smoothies have been a life saver when life gets crazy!
Is there one thing you can’t wait to do as soon as you deliver?
After a major love fest with our new mini best friend, I’m sending Nick out for Sugarfish Sushi – I’ve been dreaming about it for months and can’t wait!
To conclude this interview, is there one piece of advice you would like to give to other moms-to-be or that are planning to be?
Everything in life is temporary; Change is the only constant. The good and the bad moments are fleeting so remember to EMBRACE it ALL enjoying the present moment while it lasts. Cherish the blessings, and breathe through hardships.
